"Closure isn't something you get; it's something you create.” – Jennifer Bogard.
I struggle with attachment and letting go, thus this piece is about letting go when there is no other option. This piece has been a healing journey for me; I allowed myself to grieve and feel all the emotions I've been holding in, and then I finally let go once the piece was finished. Lang Leav's "Wishing Stars" resonates with me because it represents the liberation we desperately crave. This photographic series includes new work as well as work from my archive. It's as if these old images were created unintentionally, unaware that their destiny was to let them go and help me heal as if they had that power in them all along and all I had to do was be in the right place at the right time and take them. Each photograph represents a section of the poem, culminating in a whole poem. I read a piece of Lang Leav's poetry "Wishing Stars" and saw my life before responding with a photograph. The photograph inspires the next part. After that, I read, envisioned, and answered once more. With the process of letting go, it's as if her poem has been the soundtrack of my life recently.
